My wife yelled at me today, said go for a ride, your on hollidays.
So i jumped in my race suit, strapped a camera to the bike and headed off for the after noon to the Waterfall way.
After being held up by very very slow traffic through the good bits, i decided to turn around, pulled off onto a side road, which turned into 3 inches thick of gravel and it threw me over the bars and low sided the bike.
Oggie nobs took most of the damage, a few small scratches along the right hand side, exhaust, mirror bar end and leaver took some minor scuffing. and a blinker stalk rubber came off. i got catapaulted a few meters off the bike face first and slide in the gravel more than the bike, race suits got some good marks on it now.
murhphys law, you put it on tape, your bound to crash.
oggie nobs worth their weight in gold.
my bikes not immaculate anymore

got a massive swelling and bruise on the outside of my left leg, around where a knee slider sits. and a few sore bits on my arms too, i think i landed on all 4's. happened so bloody quick.

worst thing is, all 3 bike drops in my life involve u turns! maybe i need to practice u turns. http://www.ozsportsbikes.com/images/smilies/icon_evil.gif

When you come into a dirt section and you lean the bike to turn transfer your weight to the other direction. Not by much though. This should take some weight off the lower bar. Try it and see if this helps. I think your transfering too much weight to the lower bar in the turn and the front end is washing out.

i dont think i even turned the bars at all. no leaning anyway.

Ride straight into the dirt with rear brake and engine braking bring you to a stop. Then do u-turn from a stand still.

Well here goes the repairs.
Whats wrong with it
Scratched RHS fairing, slight on upper nose cowl
Broken Blinker
Bent Bolt in oggie knob
Ego.
So far, Ive taken the rhs pannel off and have buffed it with maguires scratch x, not too bad, but you can see the scratches in the right light. Then my wife whos a nail technician has taken out her nail polish and we have touched up the stickers, so far white and silver, still gota find the red to do the other bit.
Will try and fix or replace blinker 2morow, and sand off the end of the oggie knob to make it smooth again, might not worry about the bolt.

Why not use flush fitting indicators on the fairing? I have always hated the stem type that sit so far out and are the first thing to get trashed in a fall.

i just havnt found a flush mount kit i like, and becides, the way they are on the fairing, just wouldnt look so good. I think they need to stick out a bit for visibility.

ive got a weird idea of fitting these clear blinker set (oem style) with running lights.
