I munched on breakfast while Faz tried to strap the camping gear he’d bought the night before onto the KLR.

A big day ahead, meant an hour or so of this to make some distance.

First stop. Toongabbie.

Back roads towards Bruthen.

Lunch next to the bakery.

Faz met his first old timer mo’bike rider….he was just getting into his swing and when I heard “when I was a lad….” I suddenly remembered I needed to urgently check my bike….:killingme

A change of plans heading towards Buchan.

We soon began the climb.

Seldom Seen as I’ve never seen it before. :wot:

Someone seems happy to have found dirt at last. :killingme

We soon made it to a bridge.

And stopped on the other side for afternoon tea.

Of course, someone just couldn’t help themselves…

We raced the setting sun to the end of the dirt. Man, what a hoot…

But the sun won. The Bonang at speed was err interesting….

We made it to the pub at around 6pm.

I had been able to secure a bed inside with a random roomie but for Faz, it was to be his first night in a tent.

The pub served up monster sized meals – your plate arrived with either half a roast chook or a kilo of steak.

As the evening kicked on, a couple of the advriders sought me out express their concern that someone’s summer weight sleeping bag may just not be up for the cold night ahead. My random roomie failed to show which was lucky as I was awoken by a semi frozen herd of buffalo at some unsocial hour. :bs

Things had warmed up considerably by this point. It reached -5 deg overnight.

A husky in the mist.

A number of bikes struggled to start in the cold. After a Faz n Crusty push, the Scrambler fired. Did I mention it was cold? This ice formed on the front of the bike as I rode through the fog to Bombala for fuel. :wot:

For the ride home, we tagged along with Canary and some Monarchs.

My camera had yet to recover from the foggy cold.

Another run out to McKillops Bridge.

We stopped for the hike down to the Little River Gorge.

And then the Little River falls.

The run back into Buchan for lunch.

A rare beast.

Afternoon stop at Maffra.

A few hours in the dark down the highway, a bike running out fuel and we made it home around 7.30pm

Trip distance: 1,133km for me.

.... a bike running out fuel ....

Somehow a weekend would be a dead loss without it :killingme:killingme

What a bucketful of sweet pics, looks like the weather played along nicely, Faz is starting to grow some cheek-callouses on that KLR seat....and what's the Dellicknora Rd. like nowadays?
Used to be a bombed out bush-track ~20years ago, shook the crap out of the then new Patrol fourby.

Looking at the ADV thread about the meet I'd wondered if was any more to come from 40+ riders doing tens-of-1000s-of-k's on a weekend than the crappy 5 pics that had appeared in the post-weekend posts.

Seldom Seen....what a SHOCKER!! gulp

Thanks for another good one :chug:
