Default Hot Summers' Cool Shade.....Doongalla

A slow tootle through the local National Park at the foot of Mt. Dandenong before the sun starts roasting the rest of the day.

Cool and green

The head of Dandenong Creek (which later runs through Jells Park and Paterson Lakes into Port Philip Bay at Carrum)

Invermay Picnic Area...the site of the old Mountain Mansion.
Some of the old gardens are still recognizable.

The grand flight of stairs....still showing the pattern of the tiles in the cement- formwork.

She's a nice and peaceful place, orrite....

Just down the road, another reminder of yesteryear.

Time for a coffee and another ponder...local back-lanes.

Watching the world go by at Gembrook

Back in time to crank up the air-con.

Did you grab some figs from the tree while you were there? They must be getting ripe about now.

Looked like the possums or birds had a feast...it's a nice, quiet little place.
And just 3 mins from The Basin...it's like someone placed a little, virtual world there.

Doongalla is a nice spot which I discovered with my girlfriend riding two up in '73. A few years later we tied the knot there too.
