6 too many wheels, not enough vino and a rendezvous.

OK, it’s not a motorcycle tour, it’s a honeymoon of 2 motorcyclists who probably should have put more effort into hiring a Motorcycle or two, but that’s a whole other thread…

Sitting on a beach somewhere in Greece in July ‘15 drinking Ouzo and eating octopus with my soon to be wife, her cousin and her husband, the talk arose of where the next family holiday would be, Andy owned an early ‘90’s Alfa Romeo Spider and always wanted to drive it along the Amalfi Coast in Italy, seeing it was a ‘short’ drive from their hometown of London it sounded like a bloody good spot for a holiday and we also needed a honeymoon destination….

So a plan was hatched, lets rendezvous in the Amafi coast Oct ‘16, how you get there is your problem..

We decided to fly into Venice and have 2 weeks discovering Italy.
Let the trip begin.

first spot... Venice

no roads, not even a scooter to be seen and on arrival to the ferry station at the airport at 7am in the morning, no bloody Venice to be seen either

They got an NZ sparky over there on a 457 Visa?

I noticed that over there, you get pictures of Asia of the complete rats nest of cables and in Italy they look like the measure the distances between cable ties, it was very nice work and a lot the time almost invisible

and so we continue

as with all Italian towns and cities, Venice was full of Piazzas and Churches. I am not a religious person the Italy's churches and the people's dedication to them just blew me away

pinched from Wikipedia

Murano is a series of islands linked by bridges in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy. It lies about 1.5 kilometres (0.9 miles) north of Venice and measures about 1.5 km (0.9 mi) across with a population of just over 5,000 (2004 figures).[1] It is famous for its glass making. It was once an independent comune, but is now a frazione of the comune of Venice.

we wanted to bring so much glass back, the work there is beautiful, but then so are the prices.

finding Nemo, (hand blown glass) we found Dory at lunchtime, she was delicious

after a couple of Romantic days in Venice the journey continues by heading up into the Alp, probably my favorite place in the world. The Plan was to to pick up the hire in Venice and drive straight of the Island into the Alp and stay in the Township of Glurns for the night...

it was AutoStradas for the first 100km and @ 150kmh travelling doesnt take long, once we got close to Alps it was was straight to the back roads...

the first View, overlooking the Adige River

this was our first planed stop, Santuario Madonna della Corona, a church build on the side of a shear cliff face, it was a great drive up the road 'Enzo Ferrari Rd'
