Great post Marty,
Thanks for sharing it.
After having got myself into similar trouble a number of times I now "borrow" Moira's DR650 for the rough stuff and leave the Strom for the better surfaces!
Broke my right footpeg bracket similar to yours following a heavy scrape.
Welding up cost about $40 and the repair is invisible.

Nice post, pity about the drop though.

Sort of on the topic what are the regulations covering riding in state / national parks and the like? Where can and can't you ride? I've heard there's some nasty fines that can be handed down if you're caught in the wrong place?
