Tacking south to Dayville for fuel…. gentle twisties and sweepers till ya drop!

Dayville….all of 500 souls strong…maybe?

US2011_0083.jpg

The Audi's and Volvo's of Bend are long gone...this is "TRUCK" country around here and F250/350s ("Pickups, boy!!") abound...as do ATV's!!

US2011_0082.jpg

From here, it’s onto the gravel of the South Fork Rd. (there’s a South Fork Rd. EVERYWHERE!!....if not, it’ll be a North Fork Rd…..promise!), tacking…what a surprise….south!
Whatever…it’s a great piece of road, and fairly quick, too.

Let's not forget...this is still Oregon !! The poorer, less developed part of the state, but still well within the state's boundaries.

At the T-junction we look at the skies….it’s damn black up north, but the town of John Day guarantees a bed for the night. What’s in the south? Seneca? Town of 300 and only one joint listed? :???:

Hmmm….bugger it, let’s take a punt. Jimbo also seems to remember that he’s read something about a “bike-friendly” place in town. It’s only 8 miles, quick enough to double back and make John Day before dark.

The wind picks up, dust clouds blow across the plains… a sign reminds us that were over 6000ft. (~1700m) above sea-level, the hills look dark in the distance.

Seneca….it’ll NEVER be forgotten!! As here happens one of the most bizarre encounters I’ve had in my life! :looney::looney:

I always hate your's and Goddies ride reports. Always end up costing me a lot of money. :)
