Small Town USA, and some Canada

Dunsmuir, CA

Originally known as "Pusher" because of the steep rail grades at this location the coal trains would need another locomotive to push them up the hill. In 1888, a wealthy industrialist, Alexander Dunsmuir, from Vancouver Island offered the residents of Pusher a fountain if they changed the name.

Sweet!

...and right on the I-5, too.

What a bummer there's still that much snow about, missing out on one of the most breathtaking spots (and roads) around the Western US, the Lassen Volcanic Park Skydrive route between rt. 89+44

If you're still in the area....there's cracker of a day-drive through the coastal ranges Nature Parks/ National Parks (all low altitude, shouldn't be any snow left, all sealed, but a good part is single-lane asphalt) VERY scenic with cute, little stops and some great tucker + beer at the Etna Brewery. Mind the deer!! They're EVERYWHERE.

Etna Brewery (good stuff!) http://www.etnabrew.com/
Check out the ponds below the 2. bridge of the road branching south in the tiny settlement of Forks of Salmon (there's a small Post Office in the middle of No-where, can't miss it)....most likely the wrong time of year now, but in season that pond is black + swirling with 2ft. long salmon

Then stay o/n in Weaverville :thumbs:
Next morning check out Trinity Lake ....you'll LOVE it!

The Dunsmuir pics are a few weeks old, we are on the home leg (one week to go), Lake Tahoe to Clearcreek tomorrow, then to Sausalito Saturday, via Napa Valley if the stars align.

Back on topic .....

Revelstoke, BC - mostly a very tidy town, nice old quaint houses and business centre.

Mmmmmm ............ time to reminisce, back to Revelstoke.

They had a taste motor scooters and trailers, bad taste.

Roll the trailer upside down, no worries. Roll the scooter, not sure what happens then.

Flip a coin for taking the tupperware home in either the wheelbarrow or the hand trolley? W-)

Revelstoke...only ever associated that with downhill skiing.
Looks like a neat, little town.
