First there were 10...with more on the "reserve bench".
Then there were 8....and the reserve bench had made other arrangements.
One flies to Brissie for some weekend work, the other samples the outstanding nursing staff of various Mel hospitals with a smashed right hand...and six rock up at Gembrook for the start.
Doug's the first one in, taking the call that the bloody KLR is playing up and won't start.
Then does his back in when the Strom starts to keel over and he tries to catch it.
(Hope you've come through that one ok and avoided another major back-episode, mate
)
Down to 5....when the weather turned dubious, the KLR finally coughs into life under a smoking 24V helped by a pair of jumper leads.....a moment that starter motor will never forget
Played along happily ever since, the shitter!!
A spittle of rain here and there out of the threatening skies, a wayward Trumpy finding some fresh greens....and dust, dust, and more dust.
Another KLR..... with a sloppy chain, not enough oil, not enough fuel...but one hell of an enthusiastic punter making up for all+more, sliding the sucker all over the place with abandon.
Until it splutters and farts and quits the game. A fuel-cock with reserve dangling off the bottom of the tank is a bloody long way from fuel injection and Pacman-dashboards.
There are bits coming loose...and bits falling off....it's "Circus-Ant" for the trademark skid+double-flip on the Saturday, just to rattle the crowds some...Goodie wobbles down Mt. Dandenong on a rapidly deflating rear after collecting a 2" flathead-nail on Sunday arvo.....and that about closes the show apart from some needed repairs on various bikes through the coming week(s).
How good was it???
BLOODY FABULOUS!!!
As hoped for, found
A SWAG of brilliant, little roads.... gravel/ dust/mud.... and delicious tar-twisties dotted all over the place along the ridges and steep valleys of Western Gippy.
No question: Mission accomplished (and exceeded!!)
b
Mt Baw Baw in the distant haze....and promises of a wild and blowy night to come from those leaden skies. From Torwood-Topiram Rd.
Logging above Darnup/Yarragon....along the Childers Settlement Rd.
More to come
