Day 3 - Saturday.

Another nice day of riding, all on tar today. Left Jindabyne around 9am and headed to Thredbo, along the Alpine Way to Khancoban, onto Cabramurra, Kiandra and reached Tumut about 3pm. Easy day with no surprises. The Alpine Way is a good ride now, the first time I was through here was Australia Day weekend in '83 on a ER185 Suzuki, it was nearly all dirt then.

Thredbo

Dead Horse Gap, looking south

looking north

Tom Groggin

I could hear dirt bikes firing up over there

Geehi

Scammells Ridge Lookout

Murray 1 power station

Tooma Dam

Crazy landscape with all the dead trees

Tumut Pond Res.

Cabramurra

Betwwen Kiandra & Tumut

Seeing the wild brumby warning signs from Kiandra on was a bit of an eye opener, don't remember seeing those the last time I went through there.
Got a motel room for 2 nights in Tumut and parked the bike till Monday morning. Small towns are easy to walk anywhere.

Steve,
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.

This SOOOOO I ride I want to do: Dargo, Omeo, McKillops, and your report has bought back some great memories of the Alpine Way and surrounds too. Love it!

Great stuff, Steve! - and the weather played along nicely, too (xept for the cold nights, that is...)

Did you get to wear one of these as well - or are they a bit more stylish these days...

No hats, did not go past the observation deck. Glad it did not cost as the tour only went for 20 minutes.
