Mountains, Sweat + Beer...a trip to the tip!

Will try to not double-up on Glitch & Doug’s pics.

Left work mid afternoon to hotfoot it (literally) up to Myrtleford, find S.F.’s place and park the GS in the bike crèche.

Tim showed great hospitality, filling us all with beer and pizza and giving us beds in his house amongst the treetops. Brilliant.

Here he is surveying his flock the next morning -

Glitch's rally notes, old school and all the better for it -

Meetup at the bakery, 8 all up -

First stop, somewhere between Allens Flat & Tangambalanga -

Tallangatta Valley (I think) -

Fish being a typical GS hoon, popping a completely unnecessary wheelie -

A bit further up the road -

Then onto sweltering Corryong and the pool (earlier for me than others) and the pub.

Early the next morning, a quick detour to the Corryong lookout -

Then headed south down the Corryong-Benambra Road -

My version of the skirting of Lake Omeo. Note the distortion of my bike's rear wheel - I'm using a new (to me) Olympus OM-D with very wide-angle (14mm full-frame equivalent) Pro lens -

Then up onto Mt Blowhard -

And out-and-back to the Hinnomunjie Bridge -

After lunch in Omeo and super entertaining bitumen, a bit of sightseeing at the old art-deco Ensay South Hotel -

Then one of the many highlights of the weekend - the road the crosses over to Buchan via Reedy Flat and through cattle-stations -

Crossed the Timbarra River -

Then later, into the comfy Bruthen campground for the evening -

And with a sunset over the adjacent Tambo River prior to an excellent evening at the Bullant Brewery -

Sunday morning dawned dull and moody (and sleepy with next door's rooster sounded off for ages at about 4am) -

Then rode home with a much larger group, swelled by the Openroaders, in 13deg and rain. Enlivened, as Glitch has already said, by the plank-bridge-of-death-in-the-rain near Wy Yung, glistening like ice, gaps inviting you in, planks at a hundred cambers. Yikes :wow:
Coffee & thaw-out in Briagolong -

I left the group shortly after to visit my folks in Traralgon, who filled me with hot thick soup and tea :woot:, before taking the freeway home.

Had a terrific weekend with great company - thanks all !

Will try to not double-up on Glitch's pics.

Just go for it...might be the same locations/ places, but different angles and most likely, better quality.

Glitch's rally notes, old school and all the better for it -

I wonder who can read this garble at 80kmh on a bumpy gravel track

Neat pics (and the more the merrier!).
Thanks for posting them up

I'd call this Paradise creek... but I think Peter named it correctly in his ride report. Beaut spot whatever you wish to call it.!

I finally discovered why the XT was smelling like a dragster.
The rubber was glued to the B&B bash plate. It came loose and was stuck on the exhaust for a day or so.

My phone was accidentally capturing some interesting moments.
Why is the river Kwaka GREEN ?? :killingme

The campground at Bruthen is a really cool place. It caters well for everyone.
Here is the kitchen/dining area.

After enduring Temps in the low 40's, the trip home on Sunday was a wet affair.

A stop at Briagolong for a thaw out and a coffee.

I clocked up nearly 1400 km for the weekend.(4 days) Was "forced" to drink way to much beer. Laughed until my sides hurt. Sweated like a pig in the high temps.
What a top weekend. Thanks to all for another great ride.:lao
