one of the bumpy roads

Some nice pics, hooray!

Trying to remember...wasn't that the "Mt. Buller end" of the Corn Hill Rd, the saddle from Howqua Gap across to the lower Buller carpark?

Which actually makes it the SMOOTH part of the stretch...that narrow bit for the start was as rough as guts.:oops:

Hmmmm this is not the start I had planned for the ride...

Hello MR RACV....:gday:

P1050647-XL.jpg

While waiting for the truck, a heavily loaded DR pulled up to offer assistance....he opened with..."when I saw it was a Tiger, I figured you may have run out of petrol. I've got a fuel bladder on back...." :bs

My troublesome Tiger and I were delivered home in time for lunch.

OK. So take two.

Scrambler loaded. It was time to make my way to Gough's Bay.

Through the Dandenongs.

And onto the Acheron Way.

Skirting Mansfield to bypass the Targa 2015 circus.... the old signs are still up at Mirimbah, the base of Mt. Buller and Stirling.
The roads in the High Country have just opened the week before.

TargaHighCtry_M_03.JPG

Mt. Stirling Rd., good times ahead!!:drool: Mt. Little Buller in the background.

Telephone Box Junction is the tap into the Circuit Rd. that circles the entire Mt. Stirling Plateau.
There are endless options of 4WDing, camping, hiking, ski-tracks, walks, huts, mountain-biking and whatever else from anywhere along the Circuit Rd....and then some.

Alpine Wonderland starts at "The Junction" :glu

While some are "speculating" where the rest of the troupes might've gone...

TargaHighCtry_M_11.JPG

...and get into some creative snap-shootin'....

TargaHighCtry_M_10.JPG

..the rest are trying a string of whoopsies, rocks, washouts and loose, rocky climbs up the
4WD track to Craigs Hut.:bs
Oh man...she's a perler orrite!! :glu:glu

TargaHighCtry_12.JPG

There's a good portion of the Victorian High Country right ahead of you....
Mt. Cobbler, Mt. Buffalo...the list is endless as the vistas.

At the right time of day...and a set of wild skies and moody light....this place will bring tears to your eyes!!

Bouncing through the whoopsies on the way down....Ant and Doug.

Towards Howqua Saddle....and I just couldn't go past a "glam- shot".

TargaHighCtry_23.JPG

The Saddle is a high-altitude connection across to Mt. Buller via the Corn Hill Track...and a 4WD track it is :oops:.
(saves about a good hour of closing the loop to Telephone Box Junction, down to Mirimbah, then up the twisties to Mt. Buller Village)

Narrow, ROCKY, a little overgrown, steep banks and drops...pretty much borderline for a 200+kg "Fattie" like a Strom.

TargaHighCtry_26.JPG

Blissfully unawares yet....

TargaHighCtry_25.JPG

...and the reward 20 mins later!!
STUMPING views from the Summit Saddle :clap::glu:glu
