I hit the road early on Friday morning to head up to Tottenham NSW for the Far Cairn rally.
4:30am I was on the road heading north out of Melbourne. The temps started off around the low digits and then hit about 1° when I got to Glenrowan for my first refuel.
The shadows were long and the sun just creeping over the horizon as I reached Wahgunyah.
Just over the border in Corowa there is a long mural on the museum.
Stopped in Corowa to collect David, a rider we met on our trip to india in 2007.
We took the slightly longer route to Narrandera via Walbundrie, then up the Newell to West Wyalong for lunch, north to Condobolin and then the bitumen route from Condo to Tottenham, via Fifield and Tullamore.
The Fifield Pub
The rally is held at a lovely site at the Tottenham racecourse each year. The venue caters well to the campers. Some sheltered areas to get out of the sun, plenty of grassy camping area, a canteen where the local Lions Club do a Saturday night BBQ and Sunday brekky as well as toilets and shower blocks, and a good supply of beer and ice and snacks at the supermarket in town.
Friday night we all headed to the local bowling club for dinner then headed back to get a fire going and some beers.
Saturday morning was as good as Friday afternoon. Another sunny cloudless day. My Strom in the shade and David's 800 Tiger.
A cafe in town opened early on request so that we could get some breakfast.

Saturday night is Movie night at the Far Cairn Rally. After the rally awards were presented the screen was unrolled and we sat down to watch "Mondo Enduro". Anyone who's been to the Adventure Travel Film Festivals will be familiar with Austin Vince and his work.
Sunday morning I was off at the crack of dawn again. Down the road to Tullamore and Trundle
South of Forbes I avoided the highways, finding some backroads through Pullabooka, Quandialla, Combanning which was about 200km of backroads which got me back onto the main road again just north of Junee.
Church in Narraburra
Combanning Road
After lunch in Wagga I hit the backroads again, through Big Springs and Pulletop which got me onto the Hume Hwy at Little Billabong.
From there it was Hume Hwy all the way home.
About 1750km round trip for the weekend
