You can't get access to a lot of that area now though. Since the windfarm started construction this is the first and supposedly only time the public will be allowed access to that area.

That's a shame.
In the early days of the Wgtn Trail Riders Club we used to get to ride there twice a year for the price of a bottle of Scotch. Didn't they have some sort of Mountain Bike riding area on it (off South Makara Road) at one stage?

There's a big mountain bike area at the north end of South Karori road with tracks all over the hills nearest the road but not sure about further back, possibly there was before my time in Wellington
There's a moto-x track and drift pad just behind the Brooklyn wind turbine which borders the other side of Terawhiti station. There's tracks from the station leading down to the Moto-x track that we took on one of the pre rides. We came out in the middle of the track and the PD wallowed around the track to the exit
