Strathbogie - 27 August 2017

With the Openroaders trying a second time to make it to the correct café in the Paris end of Strathbogie, we formed an Alpine posse and headed south.

Dirt roads up n over the local hills as we made for Whitfield.

I don't think this guy will ever make it as a Tiger rider...

...on hearing the anticipated distance between fuel earlier in the week, he popped across to Carboor to have a 25L Safari tank fitted to the SWM :killingme

Not such a bad place to stop for morning tea.

Riding in a large circle through the forest and we were into Mt Samaria.

We encountered some snow, a few black wallabies and the usual bogan dickhead on the wrong side of the road in a 4WD.

A spirited run across the top of the Strathbogies that sent a pair of wdgetail eagles flying and we arrived.

The Openroaders had piked it and stopped at Yea. John & Johnny had given up and gone home.

A fairly indirect route back to the valley via as much dirt as possible.

I think we've got another adv convert, Leroy on the Sertao (which was on test ride) was grinning like a loon all day and was heard muttering away to himself something about bank details to the owner of the Sertao

Trip distance: 352km for me.

Where in Photo shop is the blue sky button?

Coming from Melbs, it was rain, hail, and snow at times when up high. Very little sun and wet and slippery roads on our mission today.

Still heaps of fun, even though we failed to connect at Strathbogie. :(

The roads at Kinglake West were fully snowed over when we came through after 10 am

I've truly discovered that it's new boots time again.

It is a nice spot up there and the pics do tell the stories.

I was thinking of you guys while rushing the car under the carport around 10 Sunday morning, the hail was coming down that hard.

The OpenRoaders and Strathbogie.....somethin's seriously wrong there :bs
Thanks for the pics...and wondering if Doug found his tootsies again on the way home.
Those leaky boots are a shocker.
@SF...which way did you do Mt. Samaria? South -> north or the other way around?
