Given it is electrical, and it has fins, must be a heat sink for something.

It's more the "what the hell needs a heatsink at that location" that got me stumped.
It's too small for a reg/rec, a horn doesn't usually need a heat sink...what is it then? W-)

The horn might be the item below and rearwards of the finned device?
If it only has two wires and a heatsink it could be a resistor as a shunt in the charging circuit? (guess)

Yep, 2 wires....could be either pos+neg or a twin-feed using the triple as neg.
(stupid, I know...but it's a pommie bike :whistle:)
The whole thing was as big as kid's fist...and looking at the profile and depth of the fins, that doesn't leave much in the core of the thing.
Resistor sounds about right...

Damn. The weather was so good too. I didn't go to Bayles because we were going to the inlaws for lunch, but then they called and bayled on us but by then it was already getting too late to get to Bayles before lunchtime.
