Day 3 - Saturday.

Another nice day of riding, all on tar today. Left Jindabyne around 9am and headed to Thredbo, along the Alpine Way to Khancoban, onto Cabramurra, Kiandra and reached Tumut about 3pm. Easy day with no surprises. The Alpine Way is a good ride now, the first time I was through here was Australia Day weekend in '83 on a ER185 Suzuki, it was nearly all dirt then.

Seeing the wild brumby warning signs from Kiandra on was a bit of an eye opener, don't remember seeing those the last time I went through there.
Got a motel room for 2 nights in Tumut and parked the bike till Monday morning. Small towns are easy to walk anywhere.

Day 5, final installment.

After a great model show for all concerned on Sunday, it was time to head home. The route for the day was Batlow, Tumbaruma, Jingellic, Wymah Ferry, Bellbridge, Yackandandah, Myrtleford, Whitfield, Mansfield, yea, home.
Left Tumut at 6am Monday and it was cold. The whole day was dominated by a freezing southerly which cut through everything. It was the coldest I've been on the bike since the last Alpine Rally I done in the mid '80s. Rode through fog patches between Tumut and Jingellic.

When I was not in the fog, I was either below or above it

Last time I was along here the Dora Dora pub was still open (late '80's), crazy memories of mad dashes for liquid supplies from the Clubman Rally site to there in the mid '80's. There was a for sale sign on the building this time.

Took no more pics today as it was so cold I just wanted to get home.

The dirt roads I took between Myrtleford & Whitfield are a nice ride, nice gravel surfaces through farmlands and forests. Nothing difficult although some spots might be a bit slippery with rain, but nothing an experienced rider can't handle. The Whitfield / Mansfield road was fun as usual, though mist and shower patches kept things interesting. From there it was just a cold slab ride home.

This was a great 5 days away and some fantastic scenery experienced for the first time, and to see changes in areas I had not been to for a long time.

I'm getting itchy feet again

Thanks for posting it up.

I'm probably heading for Melbourne and maybe Ballarat for a week or so in the first week of June.

I might try going via some of the parts you did. :endu

Cheers,
