Stepping back from the actual event, the planning and thought going into this is pretty massive. And also pretty intricate, considering the "theming" of it. To be honest, long distance stuff has never been my thing and I couldn't really imagine it in a place like NZ where every single kilometer comes with a massive WHOWW factor. I guess it's all the same to the locals though. There's a EuroAlps annual King-of-the-passes event, trying to clock as many pass-roads within 8 riding days spread over the June-Sept riding season, each pass with a point-rating etc.
