Damn it Google maps has some glitches. Roads are not coming up properly, and there are some extra bits in there that I didn't do. But I digress. Onto the ride!

Fill up at Exeter, then over the Batman Bridge and East Arm Road to Dalrymple Road. North to Bridport Road and a drink at Pipers River store. Down Pipers River Road to Bangor Road. Mt Arthur in the distance

It is a very warm day, around 30 degrees. You can see the heat haze in this pic

Quick stop in at the Lilydale Falls. Been in the carpark before, but not done the 5 minute stroll to the falls themselves

The upper falls are only a minute further up

Further up Golconda Road to Lebrina, I call into a retired workmate of my Mum's, before a look down at the train tunnel at the aptly named - Tunnel. If you zoom in on the above map, you can see the entrance and exit. Since this is a disused line now, I go for a ride through :)

I nearly lost my number plate! Blackberries line the sloped sides of the cutting, and I wish I had been in the centre of the tracks on the ride through. All good for the ride back though. A bit dark

And wet

The reverberation of the bike up the tunnel is awesome. I rev it and switch off and listen to the propagation of the sound waves through the tunnel. It is very cool in here, much cooler than the outside temperature.

You have some beautiful places to ride and some very interesting things to see in your part of the world.

The tunnel itself was built in 1888, and is about 700m long, dead straight. Don't know much more detail than that

Totally forget about the number plate, until I have ridden through some forestry roads up to the coast, and pull up in Bellingham, where a few trusty cable ties sort it

014a.jpg

Then a look at the water

015.jpg

I even go for a cooling dip here

After this I go for more exploration, and trying to find a track closer to the beach, find myself on a very dry, soft sandy track. Aborting only just in time, I manage to turn around and haul myself out with a lot of effort and puffing later, barely managing to keep the bike upright. :kna Could use another swim, but bug out. Back down Pipers River Road, Old Bangor Tram Road, East Tamar highway, Batman Highway and home.

There was a lot of hard yakka in making that tunnel and I love the look of those old buildings. I never tire of seeing the photos you and others post up.

Jude and I had an A3 size calendar printed up for 2012 and all bar two photos were shots taken on our trip in Tassie last year. We really loved the place. :so

All welcome Pete.

4 weeks is my plan, A. Because there's so much to see in Tassie. and B. Because I've got some mates down there I want to catch up with.

That of course, is in the hands of the roster nazi's of QLD Health.
