Good advice from Marty there...
.....I'll also break up those huge "day"-lots into segments containing 10-15 pics each....which will theoretically max out one page of 5 posts at 50-75 pics.

Less, if there are comments/ replies amongst those 5 posts.

I don't know how you do it Pete.

I'm nearly through the first pass of sorting and culling my 400-500 photos. How you are managing to find the time to work through all that stuff is a mystery to me.
(not that I'm complaining)

After a week or so of T2, the days started to melt into one another. It's really great to be able to go back through it at a sensible pace, revisiting each of those fantastic days. The first couple of days were possibly the least eventful, as far as riding is concerned, and your Ride report makes me think my heart won't stand the excitement of what followed. Just thinking back to the Mangart has me trembling.......

Bring it on.

Personally I want it all, the memories have come flooding back from T1.

As usual you're running commentary is fantastic and the shots the group have taken are spectacular.:clap::glu:glu:clap::clap:

Sometimes it's hard to keep the now and then apart:doh::lol:

It’s been sad to see Hans and Elisabeth leave for home last night (and their 4hr. return drive to Vienna starting ~11pm had me worried a bit, too)….add the foggy, grey morning and the mood is down a bit.

Michael and Sky will leave us this morning; too…both are not really game to tackle the planned dirt in Slovenia.

With the pending parting-of-our-ways, the fog out there and a laden brecky-table, nobody’s in a rush this morning. L->R Marty, Michael, Goodie and Sky

Sun’s out, maps out…up on the Pyramidenkogel, the local lookout just 2mins up the road.

I found a tiny squiggle on the map, let’s try for that.

T2_0201.jpg

We west-track a little to Velden for a servo and stumble over this:
No idea about the legal status of this little thing, but it looks like one of those “Pensioner”-mobiles that can be driven with a basic motorcycle license-of-decades-past, a sort of special-permit shopping trolley.
Looks cute, anyway…

Oops, here’s a wiki entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microcar_(brand)

Trying to find the tiny map-squiggle finishes up in a maze of sealed and unsealed singlelaner dead-ends….bummer.

So it’s via the main road south along the Faaker Lake (come back with a few GOOD one, willya
icon_beerchug_.gif
) and across the shallow Wurzen Pass into Slovenia…even by our low standards, the Wurzen is barely worth a mention.

Kranjska Gora, the former Slovenian Olympic venue sparkles in the sun just a kilometer away…and from there it’s straight up one of the more unique passes of the Alps: the Vrsic Saddle.
http://www.mapsofworld.com/ski/ski-resorts/ski-resorts-in-europe/kranjska-gora.html#
Cobblestoned hairpin after cobblestoned hairpin, the Vrsic winds itself 800m up to the saddle, before dropping over 1000m into the spectacular Soca valley.

The road…like MANY around here…built with the labour of prisoners of war. Russian, in this case.

Got the helmet and gloves on? Let’s go!

Lest we forget….the folks who died building this marvel.

The further up we get, the stronger the feeling becomes that this is a somewhat special place.

The road looks fragile hanging off the side of the sheer, rugged mountain side….there are goosebumps under that bike jacket.

It’s not so much the pass, the bends, the road itself….it’s the steep valley, the craggy white rock walls all around us… so close, you could touch them just leaning over….

Everyone seems to be affected the same way; this shot just about sums it up
