hitting "the bahn".
558k's incl. a tankstop and 85km country roads at the start in 5hrs, that Hyundai I30 is still glowing.
6speed manual, cruise control on a modest and relaxing 140kmh in the slow lane, still under 6l/100k's in ECO mode.
No idea what engine this thing has W-)
Well done! Sounds like the bahn was not piled with trucks.
The Hyundai was probably enjoying to get away from the stop and go of the town.

Another cool foggy morning, growing into a ripper of a day.

Another area of the Nat Park, once more the early morning is silent and void of the later tourist stream.

Self-help box full of pretty serious First Aid stuff, from splints to neckbraces to foldable alloy stretcher, thermo blanket and a generous bag of the usual array stuff, burn-creme to wrapping+strapping.

Rushing to the scene... first a noisy quad with a couple of emergency guys in climbing/ recovery kit, sprouting loaded backpacks, climbing helmets and harnesses, then .a fully kitted rescue Landy, loaded with guys with ropes and climbing gear, winches, Akja rescue cage etc.

followed by a well-driven ambo-van

Seems it's just too easy to drop off one of those....

Family-time nearly over, it's off to Hamburg soon for another bucket-list item I've had on the wishlist for many years.
Busy place...

A couple of days of this....

....before it's a short hop to Vienna to catch up with Hans @asphalt and Elizabeth.

The whole place is JAM-packed with tourists.
Will have another look around today before spending the whole day at "The Wunderland" on Monday.
Best way to get around is the "Hamburg Card", covering all public transport. Trains run on all lines every 10mins.

:)
After spending 8 hours in the place, fighting for every viewing inch to glimpse the crushing avalanche of impressions, we're still short of sorting through the 500+ pics taken.
What an UNBELIEVABLE place!

Those guys not only have mind blowing skills, but a deft sense of humour as well. (all topped by a looong line of $$$-sponsors lining up to pour bucketloads of funds into even the smallest new "topic/scene/display" showing their logo and paraphernalia).
The behind-the-scenes tour revealed some of the workings.....and why there are trains going overhead, underfoot and absolutely everywhere, all the time.

Near Vienna now, another rental hack beeping and farting, staying at a local farmstay for a few nights and about to have brecky with Hans @asphalt and Elisabeth in an hour. Gotta check the cows first...:bs

Trying to catch up.....another beaut autumn morning in Hamburg. City Parks rather than the city itself.

Morning fog lifting from the commercial harbour.

Inner city bike parking

The "Filthy Mile" , Reeperbahn and Kiez, red-light district on "the morning after".
Better wear boots around here, busted glass and crap everywhere. City cleaners in full swing, working in groups of half-a-dozen.

From somewhere the sweet sounds of my childhood.
This can only be a "Barrel Organ Man" aka The Grinder.

Following the tunes through the park...there he is.
Sweet, haven't heard the sounds of one of those for....decades.

That looks about right!
Beautiful piece of work that red one, sadly only caught a glimpse for maybe 10 seconds before the lights changed.
