Just because they said there'd be some sunshine....

Nobody mentioned the slight coat of white on the garage roof, or the howling gusts and dense, soggy fog on the Kinglake Ridge.
Time for Goodie to test the much-praised Barkbuster Blizzard covers that had thankfully arrived just a couple of days earlier...

Even this little fellow had tucked the beak under his wing to stay a little warmer....

....and that glaringly white winter sunlight.

Only a handful of bikes around Yea @ lunchtime, showing the majority to be smarter than us and staying " behind the stove" :)

yeah
:-((

just grazing a little at the side of the road, 4be's passing closeby constantly....I hope one of the local farmers put him out of his misery.

There is a Wombat Mange hotline you can ring if you see one. In most cases the mange can be cured if they can get to the beastie. The people on the hotline are very dedicated and very keen you just need to know as accurately as possible where the wombat was and when you saw it.
I’ve rung a couple of times about ones I have seen around the hills when walking and also come across their volunteers when they have been out trying to find wombats that have been reported.

Thanks for the tip.
Found it https://mangemanagement.org.au/contact-details-2/
Contact made.

Most likely too late for this one as it was just about immobile, dazed, eyes closed...but still standing and grazing very occasionally.

Good news for the poor little critter

Hi Peter,

We managed to track down this wombat and have given it the required treatment. Fortunately, wombie has been grazing on a nearby property, where the landowner also reported it during the week. I met with them on Saturday afternoon, as wombie was on their land. They were happy for me to treat, and they will keep us posted about its condition.

Regards,

Nick

Mate, the gong goes to Mange Management.... and K1W1 putting me on to them, I just didn't know what I was looking at and/ or who to contact.
As said...if I still had a license and the old Brno OverUnder I handed in many moons ago, wombie would be in wombie-heaven now.
That poor little bugger was a tear jerker.
Some $ has made its way into their bank account on behalf of the AusTouring community.
Without these sorts of community groups, we wouldn't have the land to ride on and the people to call when we find sick animals.
