Pushie Maintenance Day

Williamson

Part of the furniture
Day 1 - 27 January 2024 (completed)

Tasks completed on Pete's bike:
  • New cluster, chain and rear gear cable (prior completed by Pete)
  • Tweaked rear derailleur
  • Some additional lube, more required, on brake and gear mechanisms - a drop or three of light oil on all & any pivot point and cables, too much just drips off, makes and requires a clean-up.
Tasks completed on Goodie's bike
  • New chain (prior by Pete)
  • Tweaked rear gear cable
  • New cluster required.
Tasks completed on my bike:
  • Replaced broken spokes x 4 (yes, Pete another broke), theses were all new spokes three weeks back, might've got some dodgy spokes
  • New chain fitted.
If anyone needs some pushie maintenance, post here and we can schedule a day.

A huge thanks for all the help, kept looping the drive this arvo like a circus-bear on a unicycle in whatever gear I was in....smooth as baby-poo.
I sure learned a lot from a cluey old pro!!
Yell out if any of the now-ordered 200 cable-end-caps are needed....or the 10 stainless brake cables..
Goodie's new 8-speed rear cassette coming on Wed-Fri.

On another front: the DR and XT are back on the charger, will post a ride ASAP.

Another big thanks after a dream-loop this morning, incredible what difference some TLC can make.
Both bikes feel like new again, had no idea how run-down they were.
Goodies brakes are on for the morning, then just waiting for a few more parts through the week.

Super Térrarist
pushy maintenance eh. geez look what lockdown has done to us !

My old Malvern Star which i rode for the best part of 20 years was always needing a bit of tinkering. The gear derailieur would always get out of whack a short time after being set correctly.
4 years ago, I replaced it with a cheap Giant bike. The bike came with 2 free services in the first 12 months. It was so reliable that I never took it in for any service. After 2 years and about 4800km i took it to a shop for a service. Since then it's performed impeccably for another 3000km. I replaced the original rear tyre @ 2800km and I just replaced both tyres and both original tubes when i got a small puncture @ 7700km. Both tyres and 1 tube kept as good spares.

obligatory motorcycling photos from today's ride. I rode the Black spur and the Eildon Jamieson Road to the Courthouse Hotel for a burger and a beer, then home again the same way. 100km round trip on the Eildon Jamieson Rd makes up for neglecting the motorbikes lately.
