Went for a wander today with the R80. Ran really well. Love the bars. You can't beat the look of the "S" fairing, but it was killing my back. Much more comfortable now.

Purchased from Spot On in early '76 for $1000, sold to a mate in 1979 for $500, bought back early 80's for $400, sold to a work college for $500 in mid 80's. Work college T-boned a car in Bourke Road, Camberwell - the Mighty CB400F's one and only prang.

Always hankered after one of those....

There was an identical CB400F at the Ringwood (Metro?) Honda dealer back in around 2008 /09. I went for a walk whilst getting some (Bike Mart - were they a sponsor of sort? - supplied) tyres fitted to the CB1300 (at the place over the road from Bike Mart).

Anyways, it got the juices started, but they wouldn't permit a test ride (it was on consignment), not really sure how they (dealer and / or owner) expected it to sell. The juices had to be stemmed, and they were a few weeks later when there was one advertised on Bikesales.com, I took it for a ride. It took less than a km to remind me how poor (by the standards of the day) the brakes were, how soft the front forks were, and how slow it was.

In 1976 though, stepping up from the TS185, it was a completely different matter.
