Coming out of the prolonged CoVid coma of nearly 2 years or so and trying to revive some of the old mojo, enthusiasm, riding+navigating skills and gravel-legs for the upcoming weekend while being curious about conditions of roads, tracks and places in a "post"-CoVid-rattled world, this one was rather "trying to learn to walk again" all over.

Screw the busted back, the killing lethargy oif the last 2 years, the wonky knee and a bike I'll never get to really trust like any of our Stroms.

Grab some Rooftop maps for comfort...but run on memory for distances, turn-offs, timing, fuel stops.... and the rest of it, it'll be fine.
Bugger the nagging doubts, we've done this before...many 'o times.

The way things go...the size shrinks as the years kick in, but the fun stays the same!!

Geez, it's been a long 12 months if it already feels like 2 years...

:bs

It was a difficult 12 months, seemed like more when we were in lockdowns, but now it seems like 12 months that didn't exist. A couple of recent reminisces, "That was last year, no it was 2019". Yeah, 2020 is a year to forget, in many ways.

True that...it's all a blur.

Somehow the last ride I can pin calenderwise was the Wairarapa late 2019...or was that 2018? W-)

.....had a longish stretch of new asphalt and a really confusing array of new tracks going everywhere right on top of that shallow ridge across to Barjarg.

Skipped on Samaria...not a place to go solo.

Checked out a map-found crosscut from the Blue Range to Tolmie from the Tolmie end...paydirt!

Of course word wasn't out yet on the massive weather front was going to hit the High Country with lots of rain and snow-up-high only a few days later and changing the "Targa '21" quite a bit...
