The I'm bored I'm on holiday ride.

Last Friday. Picked a great day for it.

The Acheron Way is in good nick now its open again. Permanent gates at either end now so I suspect this will become a "seasonal" road.

The trees have grown along Grantons Road

The reopened at long last Lady Talbot drive is in good condition although the waterfall views are now being obscured by the regrowth.

Going up. Just after this I came across a couple of truck loads of especially imported NZ gravel just so Doug and I don't get homesick.

Must go up Upper Taggety Road one day. I have only been a km or so along it.

The descent from here down Mt Margaret Road is as usual 800 metres vertical decscent on very loose gravel with no obvious "dry" line. If you don't like decending gravel roads with the power on and the rear bouncing side to side you have been warned. I love it. Just like the good old days but its only wimpy Australian pebble sized gravel not the real stuff like it used to be.

Back through Marysville, found a neat gravel "not so short cut" then onto Narbethong and up Anderson Lane into the Toolangi Forest.

Monda Road. A lot wetter on this side with some fairly large puddles but nothing to worry about unless you were my front forks.

Down the old Dixons Creek Road. No views any more for most of it and plenty of expensive new houses.

A recreating a photo from January 2008

It wasn't raining this time Crusty!

Up Old Coach Road with its huge "Don't believe your GPS" signs then across the top.
Didn't need fuel but I figure if I didn't take a photo soon it won't be there

And I may as well go into the street from the dirt end!

Sure looks like a great pick of a day :)

Agree about the Mt. Dandy Garage....remember this thing in full swing in the 80's.
They even had a small crane-type tow-truck usually parked along the right side of the shed...

Yes in those days there were also servos at Olinda opposite the pub where the IGA is now, at Sassafras by the post office, at Ferny Creek on the corner of Sherbrooke Road and the original one at Tremont that is now the Ampol. Times change

Oh yes, there was also the Caltex at Kallista that is now an empty block.
