Just a short, cold and windy Tooradin visit.
Away from the main mob....great-looking 1150GS with custom paint job
Who was first, chair or cupholder?
drool!!
Hardtail, springer frontend and all....nice!
Weather what? Hot gossip all around....
Springer front end?
That's for Harley softcocks.
How about a leafspring frontend to drop yer chompers on yer own driveway when pulling out for the run to the pub??
Awesome stuff!
A rare MuZ Skorpion Tour from the late 90s/early 00's.....5-valve Minarelli/ Italian-built Yamaha 660cc Singles (XT660) in a German re-unification effort to save the old MZ 2-stroke factory in the former East.
Various flavours of the same dish were the Sport (Cafe Racer style), the Traveller (with Hepco/Becker panniers), the Tour (naked) and the Baghira in either Enduro or SuperMoto trim. Great bikes, great quality, but no street-cred at all.
They even ran their own racing series in Germany with the 660cc "Cup" version....later came out with their own MZ1000S 180deg P-Twin Sporty https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MZ_1000S .....a rare collectors item nowadays and nearly entirely unknown outside the German market. (I saw the sole 1000S imported in Oz for the Melbourne BikeExpo in 2004).
The Aussie importer in QLD? was slowly going bust sitting on a warehouse full of assorted dust-collectors around ?2003?
(Victoria only ever had a single retailer, Stafford Yamaha in Heidelberg).
About a dozen Skorpions were left incl. 2 bikes they had scavenged for parts to deal with warranty claims along the way.....offered $3800 a bike to buy the lot, had already a confirmed quote of $150 each from Bikes Only transport to ship them down to Vic, together with 3 timber crates of assorted spares.
I had secured bank finance for $40k/ rest in cash, in place...ready to rock within hours to get the trucks loaded..
Lots of hmm-ing/ahh-ing...3 mths later he went bankrupt, bikes got flogged at the receiver's auction for friggin peanuts.
Star of the show today, slobber.....

Closing the jaunt with a super-sharp and snappy ringa-ding-ding.....
the super-horn RD350.....man, what a piece of work!!
Really???!!!
Who-the-f^%k bolts a 1970 Superbike handlebar to a ....DR!!!????

Ah well....God's got a big zoo.
