Ural ADV ride

It's all in the riders mind set.

Thanks and yes I agree with that. I tend to ride way slower by myself than I do in groups. The concept of the Ural really appeals but I'm not sure how the practical side would work for me though. Just imagine how much photo gear I could get in the 83 litre trunk on the sidecar, I reckon I'd be dangerous. :)

Seems like the smaller capacity bikes are having a resurgence as ppl realize who much fun can be had at lower speeds and lower specs.

I think that has a lot to do with the ageing population of bike riders. Large powerful and heavy bikes are the realm of the young and indestructible and those people are becoming a smaller percentage of the motorcycling population.

:bs Speak for yourself ... ageing population of bike riders ... I'm still only 32 ... :bs Got a long way to go before I age :slobb

I like small bikes because you can do so much cool stuff on them and if you drop them you can easily pick them up and try again. Besides, what's the point of a Ducati Monster if you can only go 110kph on some freeways and, realistically, do most of your riding at 60 - 80kph commuting to and from work?

Says he who just bought a 500cc bike ... but then again, it's LAMS approved so still a small bike :D

Which is exactly what a Ducati Monster is designed for you obviously don't know your Ducati models very well. :)

Now...THAT sounds like fun! :bs

Absolutely! Which, I think, is the reason that there seem to be more and more folks around who're down-sizing rather than upsizing.

On the last Ural ride, out the back of Nundle one of the bikes speared off the track into a gully, smashing the front wheel (ripped the spokes out of the hub). Drag the bike out of the gully, wack on the spare and he was back on the road towards civilisation. Sure beat recovering it from out there. :so

Travelling fast has become risky in a lot of ways. You can take your chances and whinge when you get caught or you can change your expectations. One option is good for the blood pressure and one isn't... :chug:

I was watching a doco on Ducati this morning on TV and their bikes are so race oriented ... Maybe I picked the wrong model because Ducati's don't do it for me - not even a little bit. I retract that - not unless a really hot woman is riding it ;)

I think my hot woman rides hers but I'll probably be in serious trouble if she sees this post. ;)

Why is that?

Just a great leap into the unknown I guess the only two sidecars I have ridden are this one. Suzuki RV125 powered used for picking up spare parts and bits and pieces

and another shop one that was a BSA with a flat deck chair. We used to use it for delivering motorcycles on the chair chassis. Both were in the early 1970's.

As you say it's a mindset thing.

It's a bit hard to see how "hot" in the top photo with the helmet, but in the bottom photo, that's "HOT" .......
